First scheduleName of the states and union Territories and territorial jurisdiction
Second scheduleProvisions related to the emoluments, allowances, privileges and so on of President of India, governors of states, the speaker and deputy speaker of lok sabha, the chairman and deputy chairman of the rajya sabha, the speaker and deputy speaker of legislative assembly of the states, the chairman and deputy chairman of the legislative council of the States, the judges of supreme court and high court and the comptroller and auditor general of India.
Third scheduleForms of oaths or affirmations for the union ministers, the candidates of the election to the parliament, the members of parliament, the judges of the supreme court and high court, the state ministers, the comptroller and auditor general of India, the candidates for election to the state legislature, and the members of the state legislature.
Fourth scheduleAllocation of the seats in the rajya sabha to the states and union Territories.
Fifth scheduleThe administration and control of scheduled areas and scheduled Tribes.
Sixth scheduleThe administration of tribal areas in the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram.
Seventh scheduleDivision of powers between union and the states in terms of lists1 union list – presently contains 100 subjects (originally 97)2 state list – presently contains 61 subjects (originally 66)3 concurrent list – presently contains 52 subjects (originally 47)
Eighth scheduleLanguages recognised by the constitution.Originally, it had 14 languages but presently there are 22 languages. They areAssamese, Bengali, Bodo, dogri, Gujarati, hindi, Kannada, kashmiri, Konkani, mathili, malayalam, manipuri, marati, nepali, odia, punjabi, sanskrit, Santhali, sindhi, tamil, telugu and Urdu.Sindi was added by the 21st amendment act of 1967.Konkani, manipuri and nepali were added by the 71st amendment act of 1992.Bodo, dogri, maithili and Santhali were added by the 92nd amendment act of 2003.Oriya was renamed as odia by the 96th amendment act of 2011.
Ninth scheduleLand reforms and abolition of the zamindari system. This schedule was added by the 1st amendment act of 1951. The laws (originally 13 but presently 282) in this schedule can be judicial review by the supreme court.
Tenth scheduleAnti-defection law. It was added by the 52nd amendment act of 1985.
Eleventh scheduleThe Powers and authority and responsibility of Panchayats and it has 29 matters. It was added by the 73rd amendment act of 1992.
Twelfth scheduleThe Powers and authority and responsibility of Municipalities. it has 18 matters. It was added by the 73rd amendment act of 1992.
